What is Talent Psychology™?

Talent Psychology™ is a Psychological Talent Development system based on the relationship between emotion and talent. Many people believe that talent means ability, but if you do not have enough motivation, you cannot develop your talent. It is actually our emotions that are key to discovering and developing our own talent.  So we define talent as follows:

A talent is an ability that can be developed by using your strongest and deepest emotions as motivation to continually take action. To put it in terms of an equation:

Talent = Emotions x Actions x Abilities

People are categorized into 2 types of Talent Psychology™. One is type G and the other is type N.

GType G refers to people who are motivated by being given something by their parents, brothers, sisters, teachers, athletes, people around them or even heroes in comic books and movies.. They develop their talent through deep impression, joy, excitement, gratitude and curiosity when they are given something.

For example, Major- League baseball player Ichiro decided to become a baseball player when he was a child because he looked  up to an adult who was playing baseball. When he was interviewed and asked why he wanted to become a baseball player, he replied, “When I saw professional baseball players playing baseball, I could not think of becoming anything else but a baseball player.”

A Type G person is impressed by, interested in, and grateful for what they are given and what is around them. They motivated themselves based on something important given to them by somebody else, and trained themselves to become talented.

NOn the other hand, type N refers to people who are motivated not by being given something from people around them. Instead, they develop their talent through anger, sadness, or loneliness.

For example, Coco Channel is a world famous designer. Her mother died when she was 10 years old and her father left her and her sister at a religious house. There were strict rules at this house, and  orphans like Channel could not freely act. So day after day she thought about how she could get out of there and attain freedom and independence. She thought, “If I had money, I could get out of here,” so she decided to work as a live-in tailor. She designed clothes for independent women for the rest of her life. Channel and her customers feel the same way. They tried to get what they were not given.

Type N people get motivated by what they were not given. They motivate themselves through emotions like anger, sadness, or loneliness that are caused by not being given something important to them, And in this way they train themselves and become talented. They generate their talent through anger, sadness, loneliness, or other powerful emotions.
